Rebecca Chambers is a character from the video game series Resident Evil. She was featured in the Prequel game Resident Evil 0, was a backup character to Chris Redfield in the original Resident Evil, as well as the REmake, and was also featured in the Train Derailment and Nightmare scenarios of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. She was also in 4 of the 6 Resident Evil novels by S.D. Perry, and was at least mentioned in every one. This Rebecca obviously does not uh, remember any of the novel stuff.

She's obviously a brilliant young woman, having managed to graduate with her masters in biochemistry IN ADDITION to going through S.T.A.R.S. training all by the age of 18. All this lofty intelligence she has, however, is unapparent in everyday life, now that she's past the gawky little kid going to college part. She doesn't go out of her way to make people feel dumber than she is, and while she does sometimes get wrapped up in using bigger words that have to be dumbed down, she likely won't make fun of you for it. Unless you're Billy but really that's beside the point.

Overall Rebecca is an incredibly caring young woman who would do anything to lend a helping hand, wherever it's needed. She can unintentionally put herself in danger at times due to her attempts at courageousness, and while she tries very hard to put on a brave face she scares fairly easily, and is fortunate to have people who care enough to watch her back. Because while she'd do okay on her own she definitely would not have survived as long as she did if it weren't for Billy, Richard, and Chris.

Her physical shortcomings are also a factor in the...fact that no one takes her seriously. At least not as a police officer. Billy pretty much laughed at her when she tried to arrest him, and all the S.T.A.R.S. officers treat her like she's their little sister. Since she's always been younger than most of the people she's surrounded herself with (she comes from a family of three older brothers), she's overly aware of her tiny stature and extremely sensitive about it. She tries to brush off jokes about how she can't be older than fourteen and the like but it DOES bother her, and is damaging to her self esteem. Really she has no idea how attractive she actually is, standing at 5'3" and probably weighing just over a hundred pounds soaking wet (official stats say she's 90lbs. I assume she's put on a little bit of weight, at least to not be considered UNHEALTHY. yeah uh she's 95lbs in-game, currently.)

She's not without her attempts to restart from the gawky kid who graduated from college at 18, the age when most normal people are STARTING college. The most obvious of her New and Improved attitude (besides being bossy at convicted felons) is the tattoo on her left bicep of a butterfly. In Christian mythology the butterfly signifies rebirth, blah blah blah and she thought it was pretty. She's a little embarrassed by it though, so it's usually hidden. She's also embarrassed by the dog tags she wears as a good luck charm, and those are typically hidden too.

Before Manhattan

Rebecca joined the organization of S.T.A.R.S., based in Raccoon City, shortly after graduating college. She was obviously recruited personally by Wesker, which at the time seemed like a wise choice as she was experienced with pharmaceuticals, although reasonable suspicion arises now that he may have brought her into S.T.A.R.S. with the idea to groom her into a position within Umbrella.

She was with S.T.A.R.S. barely a month when she was sent out on her first mission with Bravo Team, because apparently Alpha Team can't be arsed to go check out horrible murders in remote mountain ranges. They send the B-squad in to get chowed down on. And that is exactly what happens! Everyone dies, except Rebecca! Rebecca only manages to survive thanks to the help of one escaped convict, Billy Coen, who while she initially doesn't trust his tall, dark, and scary self she grows to trust deeply and fully when he proves to truly be a good person, despite what the records say. After surviving the horror of the Umbrella Training Facility, Rebecca allows Billy to escape, taking only his dog tags, and she makes her way to the Spencer Mansion, where she basically gets a rinse and repeat of the previous day, minus Billy and plus getting shot in the chest by Wesker. Good thing that medic vest is bulletproof.

After the remaining S.T.A.R.S. team escaped in the Alpha Team's helicopter (this would be almost all of Alpha minus Joseph Frost and Wesker, plus Rebecca) Rebecca filed a report on Billy's death and left the city after S.T.A.R.S. was disbanded by a corrupt Chief Irons. Since then Rebecca's been with an anti-Umbrella group, willingly going into compounds that could possibly be infected, looking for anything that'd bring the conglomerate to its knees. She was running for her life from a couple Umbrella operatives when she passed out and woke up in a busted up New York. :D

In Manhattan

Rebecca discovers Billy alive and well after utilizing the journal system, and proceeds to move in with him. She is really glad to see him. After settling in above the bar Rebecca starts finding hospitals that haven't been raided yet for her own supplies, and has been trying to help people where she can. She makes use of herself by visiting Rion Steiner by request of Harry Mason, and she is convinced she can help him. She's also useful where she can be, in more or less setting up her own mini-clinic, and she's more than willing to travel anywhere in Manhattan to help someone in need.

After Billy injures himself by falling through a floor, Rebecca becomes much more of a homebody, primarily to care for her somewhat cranky charge. Still, when Rebecca is contacted by Harry after finding Rion injured, she leaves Billy to his own devices (mostly healed, at this point) and goes to the aid of the poor boy. This directly links her into the A Wolf at the Door arc of events. She has the unfortunate task of having to do what she can to help Rion without any surgical experience. She amputates what is left of his eyes and puts him into a morphine-induced coma, and then she and Harry move him back to the Cathedral. They were followed by Birdman, and Rebecca was present when the car was thrown through the window. She then spent the remainder of the fight with Birdman in the basement with the unconcious Rion, Lilia, James, and Mary.

Afterwards, Rebecca tended to the injured until help showed up, and she returned home. After breaking down in Billy's arms the two had a moment in which their feelings for one-another finally came to light, somewhat. It wasn't until a week later after a drinking session with Tifa that they finally talked in detail about the situation, and are now "officially" a couple.

Things were calm for a brief time before after returning from a visit with Rion, Rebecca was ambushed by a group of parasite crabs and bitten. Instead of immediately seeking out treatment, Rebecca instead made the decision to research how the virus affected her immune system, and attempt to develop a cure.

She lied to everyone, telling them she'd fallen on a broken mailbox, and then when the sickness began showing obvious signs, she let everyone assume she'd come down with the flu. Billy was suspicious, but since he trusted Rebecca to be honest with him, he didn't press into it, until he happened upon Rebecca's research when she forgot to lock the file.

Billy immediately took Rebecca to be healed, and spent the next several days making Rebecca miserable with his sullen attitude towards her. They eventually made up, and Rebecca was considerably cheered, having her relationship back on track, in addition to several of her old friends from Raccoon making their home in and around the bar.

Character Relationships

Billy Coen - Rebecca was lucky enough to run into Billy during her first night in the Arklay mountains, and the bond they forged during that nightmare stuck with her over the years. Her feelings for him were slowly beginning to become something more than a deep respect and trust when she arrived in Manhattan, and while it took some time she was finally able to admit to him she cared for him as more than a friend. The two are involved in the literal sense now, although they're keeping it fairly low profile.

Leon S. Kennedy - Just a name in a list of Raccoon City survivors to her before, he's now becoming somewhat of a friend.

Tifa Lockhart - Co-owns the bar with Billy. Took Rebecca on as a bartender-in-training, and being the only women in the bar for a good deal of time, the two forged a friendship.

Rion Steiner - A young boy with a drug problem. Rebecca was initially asked to help him with the addiction, but after he was attacked by Birdman she found herself trying to save his life in a completely different way. She is very fond of the boy, and takes it upon herself to check in with him, and tries to find ways to make up for the obviously messed up childhood he had. She almost treats him like she would a little brother.

Harry Mason - Initially enlisted her help with Rion, she understands that Harry is a fairly compassionate man and respects him for taking care of Rion the way he has.

James Sunderland - They were going to start a greenhouse but since James is a loser who got himself bitten and the disappeared that is a project on hiatus. :(

Chris Redfield - An old friend from the Spencer Estate and S.T.A.R.S. She trusts him a good deal and looks at him in a similar light as she does her older brothers. She knows he's got her back when she needs him to, and there are few people she'd pick above Chris to be on her side in a crisis.

Jill Valentine - Another of the few that Rebecca escaped the Spencer Estate with, while Rebecca initially didn't get to know Jill that well, there is a more or less mutual appreciation, due to being the select few women who were accepted into S.T.A.R.S.
